Situation:

ReWaRD displays the message "The security key is not one supplied by Geocentrix" when run on a Toshiba laptop. This is caused by the parallel port on Toshiba laptops not operating fast enough to allow proper communication between ReWaRD and the security key (dongle).

Solution:

Download the Aladdin Device Driver Installation Utility program (www.geocentrix.co.uk/downloads/reward/kb650/hinstall.exe, 1.10MB) from the Geocentrix website. Save the file in a temporary folder on your hard disk. (This program is also provided on the Geocentrix Software CD, in the folder Tools\HASP\Drivers.)

Run the utility program as described below:

  1. Click the Start button on Windows taskbar and then choose Run...
  2. Click the Browse button
  3. Navigate to the temporary folder where you saved hinstall.exe and select it
  4. Click Open, whereupon the text in the Open box will change to "<Folder>\hinstall.exe" (where <Folder> represents the pathname of the folder where you saved the file)
  5. Add the following text after the trailing quote mark: -i -portdelay=400. The text in the box should now read "<Folder>\hinstall.exe" -i -portdelay=400
  6. Click OK to run the installation utility
  7. Run ReWaRD to check that communication with the security has been established
