Situation:

ReWaRD displays the message ""Problem communicating with the security key - program will run in Trial mode, quote error code: 100" after upgrading the computer's operating system to Windows XP.

This is caused by the device driver needed to communicate with the parallel port pre-dating Windows XP.

Solution:

Update ReWaRD 2.5 to Service Release 15 or later, which includes a device driver compatible with Windows XP.

If this does not solve the problem, download and install the latest HASP Device Driver from Aladdin Knowledge System's website (www.aladdin.com):

  1. Go to Aladdin's Support and Download page for end-users (www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/enduser.asp)
  2. Locate and click on the hyperlink for downloading the "HASP Device Driver GUI Installation Utility"
  3. Save the file in a temporary folder on your hard disk
  4. Open the downloaded zip file and extract the program HASPUserSetup.exe to the same folder as above
  5. Run the program and follow its on-screen instructions
  6. When prompted, choose a "Typical Installation"
  7. If prompted to do so, re-boot your computer
  8. Run ReWaRD to check that communication with the security has been established
